Meng’er Zhang appeared as the female lead Luo Yan in a Chinese stage adaptation – titled Finding Destiny (寻找初恋) – of the Korean musical Finding Mr. Destiny in 2013.
In 2017, she brought to life the character named Nakanishi Akiba (仲系 秋叶) in the Chinese musical adaptation of The Street of Dawn (黎明之街).
She was cast in a production of In The Mood For Sorrow (马不停蹄的忧伤) in 2019 and this performance got Meng’er Zhang nominated for the Best Leading Actress Award at the 13th Daegu International Musical Festival.
She made her first theatrical film appearance by playing the role of Xu Xialing (Shang-Chi’s estranged younger sister and Wenwu’s daughter who was excluded from the Ten Rings organization by her father due to his traditional gender bias) in the superhero film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021.
