Kat Von D is a Mexican-born Argentine-American,she got her first tattoo at 14, quiting school at 16 to become a tattoo artist. Von D was influenced by the prominent Latino culture of Los Angeles when drawing tattoos in her art and style.She published a book of her artworks and tattoos called High Voltage Tattoo, released in January 2009, with a foreword by Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx.
Von D’s popularity in the Miami Ink series opened the door for her to be involved in her own reality series LA Ink following her work at her Hollywood tattoo shop, High Voltage Tattoo. During the run of LA Ink, Von D gained notariety by setting a Guinness World Record of most tattoos given by a single person in 24 hours, totaling 400 tattoos. The Guinness tattoo record was later broken by her ex-husband Oliver Peck with 415 tattoos, and again at a later date by Derek Kastning with 726 tattoos.
