Legendary producer Just Blaze worked the early morning shift as he sat down with the Breakfast Club to discuss why he didn’t place on Jay Z’s recent album Magna Carta Holy Grail.
“We just didn’t find that song. The thing with me and Jay is we’ve spent the past couple of years chasing the ghost of “P.S.A.” and “U Don’t Know,”” Just explains. “He came to see me before we started working on the album like ‘Yo, we gotta make this happen.’ He came uptown, came to the studio and we decided on seven joints he was going to do then I left and went on tour for three months and he was like hitting me like ‘Yo don’t give these to nobody. By the time I got off the road, he had changed directions of the album.”
He adds that some of the beats went to other artists and says they wouldn’t have fit on MCHG, but that he and Hov would revisit them the next go-round. Watch the full interview where the touring DJ/ beatsmith discusses EDM, Jay Electronica’s absence and more above.
