Johnny Galecki Took Exception To Roseanne Barr's Racist Tweet

Johnny Galecki Hasn't Acted In Years, But His Current Yearly Salary Ensures He's More Than Okay

Johnny Galecki is living in Nashville these days and still making millions thanks to his 1% backend profits from The Big Bang Theory.

It was a tough situation for Galecki, especially given how emotional the actor was about making his return to Roseanne all those years later.

Johnny Galecki Was Emotional When He Finally Returned To Roseanne Years Later

Galecki guest-starring on Roseanne was "very surreal and emotional" process for the actor. Galecki was particularly shocked by how similar everything was all those years later.

“I was excited to see everyone in the same room again but what I wasn’t expecting was walking onto that set again, which the designers recreated to a T.”

"The little things like the knobs on the stove, it’s just weird how it opened up your brain to memories you didn’t even realize existed in your psyche. It was very, very surreal and emotional and celebratory. It was like going to your 20th high school reunion except all the people are your heroes, not the bullies.”

Johnny Galecki Declined A Return For The Conners

Executive producers Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan did make a pitch for Johnny Galecki to return. At that point, his schedule was a little more flexible given that The Big Bang Theory had come to an end. Nonetheless, Galecki declined and stayed off the map.

The producers revealed, “We even approached [Galecki] for this episode, to be honest with you,” Helford told TVLine. “It was just one of those things where it didn’t work out — and like you say, he’s certainly taking a step away, taking a breather, and we understand that. But we have to deal with what’s going on in the Conners’ lives, so we just decided this was the time [to address David’s absence].”

“The last time Johnny was here, he really went out of his way to say how much he loved not only the legacy of the show, but what we’re doing with The Conners,” Caplan added. “He’s a big fan, and he loved being on the show. But real life tends to take priority, and if he needs to step away, we all respect that.”

“We’re approaching the grand bow of the show, maybe next season or whatever, and there’s only so long we can go [without seeing David]. And Johnny is just too busy. We love him, and he would love to be doing stuff with us, but it just hasn’t worked out scheduling wise.”

Fans would've loved to see another return from Johnny but, ultimately, it wasn't meant to be.
