James Arnold Obituary, Death – An unexpected death occurred on Monday, December 11, 2023 at a hospital in Rome for Mr. James “Rido” Arnold, who was 71 years old and from Summerville, Georgia. The late Henry Arnold and Mamie Hawkins Arnold welcomed their son Rido into the world on August 6, 1952 in Trion, Georgia. Additionally, he was a self-employed automotive transporter in addition to being a member of the North Summerville Baptist Church. The Georgia Bulldogs, automobiles, car shows, and spending time with his family and friends were all things that he enjoyed doing.
A number of his siblings, including Jessie Ivey, Anna Isom, Patsy Thornton, Josephine Cook, Leon Arnold, Otho Arnold, Henry Arnold, Jr., and Eugene Arnold, have passed away before him. His parents were also among those who came before him in death. He is survived by his children, Jamey Arnold and Sherri Jones, who are married to Danielle; his sisters, Kathleen Curvin, who is married to Lamar; Marilyn Patterson, who is married to Bobby; and Juanita Thornton, who is married to Jim; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; Melanie Arnold Howard, who is the mother of his children; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

On Friday, December 15, at 2:00 p.m., funeral services will be held at Mason Funeral Home to commemorate the life of Mr. Arnold. The services will be officiated by Dr. Sammy Barrett, Reverend Chris Nixon, and Reverend Tracey Espy. After the funeral, the body will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery, and the pallbearers will be Josh Tapp, Matt Thornton, Ladon Lively, Rocky Hatfield, Billy Joe Dooley, Terry Dobson, Josh Jones, and Matt Jones. Chris Bowman, Jamie Walker, Eddie “Flash” Ballenger, Larry Dale Dooley, Tim Hegwood, Harvey Fitzgerald, Boo Hammond, Deanna Evett, and all of his buddies who lived in the McGinnis Highrise Apartments will serve as honorary pallbearers at the funeral service. The funeral home will be open to visitors on Thursday from five o’clock until seven o’clock and on Friday from one o’clock until two o’clock.
