21 Savage may be gearing up for a global takeover.
According to Billboard, the Her Loss performer has plans to set out on an international tour as his immigration issues may be a thing of the past, a source informs the outlet.
The 30-year-old’s status was revealed on Drake’s “8 AM in Charlotte,” where the Toronto representative rhymes “Savage got a green card straight out of the consulate/Where I go, you go, brother, we Yugoslavian.”
Currently, the duo are nearing the end of their joint It’s All A Blur North American tour. 21 Savage did not join the “6 God” on the tour’s previous Canadian tour date. Rappers Travis Scott and J. Cole filled in as surprise guests at the Vancouver and Montreal concerts.
In 2019, the “Snitches & Rats” rhymer was arrested and detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Atlanta during what was described as a “targeted operation with federal and local law enforcement partners.”
Born Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph in the United Kingdom, the chart-topper legally emigrated to the United States at a young age. The 2019 incident stems from a 2005 visa that expired after one year.
“The worst thing was sitting in there not knowing what was going to happen, or when it’s going to happen,” detailed the Atlanta representative to Billboard after the ordeal. “Whenever I went to jail before, it was, ‘You’re being charged with this and going to court on this date.’ But immigration ain’t like that. You’re just being held.”
